Specific Need

Southeast Kansas loves the humanities! In 2024, over southeast Kansans engaged in over 60 Humanities Kansas history and literature events, including  Marla Day's presentation of Dress for Success: Nelly Don and American Fashion at Pittsburg Public Library, Married to Adventure: Osa and Martin Johnson's Films and Kansas Music History at Independence Public Library, Linda O'Nelio Knoll's Army of Amazons: Women's Fight for Labor Rights in Kansas Coalfields at Iola Public Library, and Talk About Literature in Kansas book discussions at Parsons Public Library. Help Humanities Kansas keep more of these opportunities to share the stories of southeast Kansas and spark conversations free and available to southeast Kansans with a donation on Match Day.

Since our founding as an independent nonprofit in 1972, Humanities Kansas has been leading a movement of ideas. HK’s programming, grants, and partnerships document and share stories to spark conversations and invite new insights. Together with southeast Kansas partners and supporters, HK encourages southeast Kansans to draw on diverse histories, literatures, and cultures to strengthen our communities, our democracy, and our connections to one another.
